Mesquite Bean Cakes

6 cups ripe, dried mesquite beans
Water

Grind mesquite beans with a mortar and pestle until they reach a flour-like consistency. Add enough water to achieve a stiff dough. Pat the dough flat, cut it into squares, and dry the squares in the sun.

Serve with milk or coffee.
