Honey Bun Bars

Crust
1/2 cup butter
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons cold water
2 tablespoons honey

Filling
1/2 cup butter
1 cup water
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1/2 cup honey
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Icing
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 to 4 teaspoons milk or cream

Crust: No need to sift flour. Measure by lightly spooning into cup and leveling off. Cut butter into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add water and blend until a dough forms. With floured fingers, press onto bottom of greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Drizzle honey over crust; spread slightly. Spread filling over crust. Bake at 400 degrees F for 25 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with pecans. Return to oven, bake 10 minutes longer. Cool slightly, drizzle with Icing.

Filling: In saucepan melt butter in water. Bring to a boil and add flour and salt all at once. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture forms a stiff ball, about 1 minute. Remove from heat; add eggs, one at a time; beat until smooth and glossy. Stir in honey and almond extract.

Icing: Combine all ingredients.
