Apple Crumble PieAustral 10-23-2003 Pie: 1 (9 inch) deep dish pie crust 5 cups apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced 1/2 cup white sugar 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/3 cup white sugar 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 6 tablespoons butter Crust: 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup butter, chilled and diced 1/4 cup ice water Pie 1 Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C.) Arrange apple slices in unbaked pie shell. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. 2 Mix 1/3 cup sugar with flour; cut in butter until crumbly. Spoon mixture over apples. 3 Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until apples are soft and top is lightly browned Crust: 1 In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. 2 Roll dough out to fit a 9 inch pie plate. Place crust in pie plate. Press the dough evenly into the bottom and sides of the pie plate.
