My wife and I took a mini vacation out to the Galvaston bay area in Texas and on our first night there we set out to find a nice restaurant to eat at. Our anniversery would be the next day so we weren't looking for anything too fancy but didn't want Mcdonalds either. Seawall Boulevard seemed to be restaurant strip so we began our search their and found a humble looking place called Gaido's.

Anticipating a travel time of greater than 4 hours we were not in what you might call formal dress to say the least. We walked in and felt maybe we had made a mistake as the humble outside appearance did not lend itself to what we found to be a very, to us anyway, elegant dining experience. We expressed our consern to the Host and were warmly welcomed stating that our attire would not be an issue. All of the wait staff and the Host were wearing white collard shirts black dress pants and a tie. Tables were lined with white linens and an eye appealing setting.

Our waiter's name was Wade Peete who made our dining experience even better by offering a genuine friendly smile and hospitality. We began our dinner with the appetizer "Iced Gulf Shrimp and Half Shell Oyster Comination" for only $13.99. While we waited we were brought fresh baked bread with seasoned olive oil. The appetizer was delicious which led us to our main course which would be just as impressive.

A little explanation about their menu seems neccessary as it was very easy to read and offered variation where needed. On the front side the menu is brogen down into your appetizers, salads, fish, shrimp, pasta, shellfish, combinations, beef and poultry, and vegetables all in A la Cart menu style. The second side of the menu offers most everything on the front but in their complete meal format.

My wife had the Boneless Breast of Chicken "Michael" for only $12.99 and I had the Oysters Brochette only $16.99. It was delightfull to have the Oysters Brochette cooked to perfection and the portion size for the Chicken "Michael" was healthy enough that my wife had a meal for the next day, after all she had to save room for desert. As pleasent of an expereince this was thus far we decided that this would be our anniversery dinner treat for eachother and completed the meal with a dessert sampler of cheesecake flan, chocolate cake, cheesecake, and their delicious pecan pie.

All in all this was a great restaurant that I would recommend to anyone. Their waitstaff is proffessional and accomodating and the menu selections are great! My hats off to the owners Rick Michael and Kim Gaido, and of course to Chef Nick Thompson!
